How often should I have my eyes checked?
We recommend that you have your eyes checked every two years or every 12 months if you wear contact lenses. Because you adjust well to minute changes in your vision over time you may not be aware that you are experiencing any problems, so it is important to have your eyes checked regularly for the early detection of changes in your vision and to check the health of your eyes. Your optometrist will let you know if you require an eye examination more frequently than this.
How long does it take?
A standard consultation takes about 20 minutes.
Do you bulk bill Medicare?
We can bulk bill Medicare for standard consultations, however unfortunately at this time Medicare does not cover the Digital Fundus Photography, which we routinely take as part of your consultation. For a full list of fees please contact one of our branches.
I’m a National Pharmacies Member, do I receive discount on my examination?
No, unfortunately your National Pharmacies discount only applies to glasses, lenses or solutions purchased and not to your consultation items
Does my Private Health Fund cover any costs?
Your Private Health Fund will cover some or all of the cost of prescription glasses and lenses however they will not cover any of your consultation items.
I am having problems with my eyes but I’m not due for a check up, am I allowed to make an appointment anyway?
Yes absolutely. Although we recommend checks every two years, we encourage you to come and see us at any stage should you experience any problems with your vision or the health of your eyes. Your eye sight is precious and so you shouldn’t take risks if you’re experiencing problems.
I usually see another optician, however I’d like to buy my contact lenses from you but I don’t have my script, what can I do?
By law, your optometrist must supply you with a copy of your script upon request. If you bring a copy of the script into us we can supply your lenses. If you have any trouble obtaining your script please contact us and we can contact your optician for you.
I have some more questions but I don’t see the answers here, who can I speak to?
